Two-part Inventions, Bach - Keys and Modulations

An illustration of the keys and modulations in all fifteen of J. S. Bach's TWO-PART Inventions. This worksheet created by Len Rhodes identifies the chords on each note of the scale of each piece, based on the key of each Invention. It also confirms Bach's awareness for modulation of the 'six closely-related' keys. A remarkable fact that throughout the Inventions, Bach was able to restrict modulation to the keys based upon the chords I - VI. My students have spoken of how this illustration has helped their theoretical approach to the analysis of the Inventions.
